Il est le 3e d\u2019une famille qui compte 14 enfants. Il \u00e9tait \u00e9tudiant\u00a0en philosophie \u00e0 Prince-Albert (Saskatchewan), lorsqu&#8217;il a rencontr\u00e9 le P\u00e8re Louis-Marie Parent. Ce dernier visitait les Oblates de l&#8217;Ouest canadien. Il y avait l\u00e0 un autre \u00e9tudiant, Maurice Roy, qui connaissait le P\u00e8re Parent, ayant fait partie d&#8217;une \u00abtentative de fondation\u00bb d&#8217;un institut s\u00e9culier masculin par le P\u00e8re Parent (1954). Avec d&#8217;autres, ils ont interpell\u00e9 le P\u00e8re Parent pour qu&#8217;il se reprenne. Mario s&#8217;est int\u00e9ress\u00e9 au projet missionnaire d&#8217;un tel institut et a ensuite pris contacte avec le P\u00e8re Parent.<\/p>\n<p>Il a joint l\u2019Institut \u00e0 sa fondation en 1958 et a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 la th\u00e9ologie au Grand S\u00e9minaire Saint-Boniface, au Manitoba. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 ordonn\u00e9 pr\u00eatre le 22 juin 1963.<\/p>\n<p>Il a d&#8217;abord \u00e9t\u00e9 vicaire \u00e0 la paroisse Notre-Dame-de-Fatima, aux Iles-de-la-Madeleine (Qu\u00e9bec). De 1964 \u00e0 1970, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 professeur, puis directeur, au S\u00e9minaire de Philosophie I.V.Dei \u00e0 Trois-Rivi\u00e8res. Dans les ann\u00e9es 70, il a \u0153uvr\u00e9 en pastorale dans le dioc\u00e8se d\u2019Amos, tant au niveau paroissial et scolaire qu\u2019au niveau dioc\u00e9sain. Il a aussi \u00e9t\u00e9 membre du conseil du district canadien. En 1980, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9lu directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de l\u2019Institut Voluntas Dei; il fut r\u00e9\u00e9lu en 1986 pour un second mandat de six ans. Par la suite, il a s\u00e9journ\u00e9 un an en Inde pour aider \u00e0 l\u2019organisation de la formation des membres. \u00c0 partir de 1994, il a travaill\u00e9 principalement comme pr\u00eatre de paroisse dans le dioc\u00e8se d\u2019Amos et ce, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 sa retraite en septembre 2009. Parall\u00e8lement, l\u2019Institut a proc\u00e9d\u00e9 \u00e0 la r\u00e9vision de ses Constitutions afin \u00ab\u00a0\u2026 que soit mieux reconnue la pr\u00e9sence des couples mari\u00e9s et mieux exprim\u00e9s leur cons\u00e9cration particuli\u00e8re et leur mode d\u2019appartenance \u00e0 l\u2019Institut.\u00a0\u00bb (ref. <em>Le moment pr\u00e9sent, <\/em>Volume 9, Janvier 2008, p.18) Le 12 juillet 1987, l\u2019Institut Voluntas Dei a \u00e9t\u00e9 reconnu comme institut s\u00e9culier de droit pontifical et il a re\u00e7u l\u2019approbation de ses Constitutions le 21 septembre 1988. En 1989, une assembl\u00e9e interm\u00e9diaire a \u00e9t\u00e9 tenue sur le th\u00e8me\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Le v\u00e9cu de la cons\u00e9cration s\u00e9culi\u00e8re dans notre Institut\u00a0\u00bb. Un comit\u00e9 de r\u00e9daction a produit une brochure pour donner suite aux travaux de cette assembl\u00e9e. There was another student, Maurice Roy, who knew Father Parent; Maurice had been part of a \\u201ctrial foundation\\u201d of a secular institute by Father Parent (1954). Along with a few others, the young men asked Father Parent to attempt a new foundation. &nbsp;Mario took interest in the mission project of such an institute, and he then contacted Father Parent.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p>Mario joined the Institute when it was founded in 1958 and did his theology at the St. Boniface, Manitoba major seminary. He was ordained a priest June 22, 1963.&nbsp;<\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p>After ordination he first served as curate in the parish of Fatima in the Magdalen Islands (Qu\\u00e9bec). From 1964 to 1970, he was professor and then director of the I.V.D. Philosophate at Trois-Rivi\\u00e8res. In the 1970s he worked in pastoral ministry in the Diocese of Amos (Qu\\u00e9bec) as a school chaplain and in parish work. He was also a Canadian District councillor. In 1980 he was elected Director General of the Voluntas Dei Institute, and re-elected to a second six-year term in 1986. He then spent one year in India to help set up the formation of our members there. From 1994 until his retirement in September, 2009, he worked mainly in parish ministry in the Diocese of Amos. Since then, he has been collaborating in pastoral ministry in several parishes.&nbsp;<\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p>From 1980 to 1986, under the direction of Father Mario Laroche, he Central Council placed major emphasis on member formation and support. It was during that time that the formation guides were published, along with many resource documents for reflection and facilitation. At that time, too, the Institute revised the Constitutions in order to \\u201chighlight the presence of married couples in the Institute\\u201d (Cf. The Present Moment, Volume 9, January 2008). On July 12, 1987, the Voluntas Dei institute was granted the status of a secular institute of pontifical right and the Constitutions were approved September 21 of the same year. En 1989, se tuvo una asamblea intermediaria sobre el tema: \\u201cLa vivencia de la consagraci\\u00f3n secular en nuestro Instituto\\u201d.
